Advance Care Centre for Plantar Fasciitis

What is Plantar Fasciitis?

Plantar fasciitis is the inflammation of the thick tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes at the bottom of the foot.

Usually, this condition occurs due to prolonged running, jumping or even standing. It can be cured by resting that area, taking mild pain-killing medication and physiotherapy. However, there may be cases where the condition was ignored or even the medication didn’t work. In such a situation, it is best to consult a doctor and seek more advanced treatment.

Symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis :

  • Dull and burning pain at the bottom of the heel or mid-foot area.
  • Difficulty in climbing stairs.

  • Worsening pain in the morning.
  • Pain after the stopping prolonged activity.

Diagnosing Plantar Fasciitis at Eravio

At Eravio, the doctors will physically examine your foot to determine the location of the pain area and overall effect of the pain. This physical examination may include flexing the foot as they push on the plantar fascia to study the reaction.

The doctor will check your foot for reflexes, muscle tone, touch sensitivity and balance. They may also ask you to get an X-ray or MRI of the foot.

Treating Plantar Fasciitis Using Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)

At Eravio, we use Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) to treat the plantar fascia. This therapy is effective in reducing the inflammation and eliminating the pain within a few sessions. It also eliminates any risk of recurrence, allowing you to resume your active life with renewed enthusiasm.

The procedure for LLLT for plantar fasciitis is as follows:

  • The doctor places infra-red laser diode powered at low intensity (980 nm) at the affected nerve on the arm.
  • The photons from the laser energy enter the mitochondria of the cells in the affected tissue.
  • The energy from the photons powers the mitochondria, allowing them to heal themselves. This reduces the inflammation and the resulting pain.

It is important to note that LLLT needs to be supported with doctor-approved exercises to return to its original strength.

Benefits of LLLT for Treating Plantar Fasciitis

  • Non-invasive therapy.
  • Quick recovery.
  • No scarring .
  • No adverse effects.
  • Lesser risk of recurrence if proper care is taken.

Causes of the Epicondylitis

  • Pregnancy.
  • Obesity.
  • Intense activity that puts a lot of pressure on the plantar fascia such as long-distance running.
  • Prolonged standing
  • Poor foot structure such as flat foot or a high arch.
  • Shoes with poor arch support.
